FOREWORD TO Treason Against Christ -- Although I have not yet met Dennis, we have known one another for years through correspondence. Because Dennis sent me earlier drafts of this manuscript, I have followed the development of his thought in the book, and I am elated that it is finally being published! I remember when I was a student at Bob Jones University, I attended a Bible Doctrine class where we had to memorize cards with Scriptures on them concerning the inspiration of the Bible. One such portion was Hebrews 4:12-13, "For the Word of God is living and active . . . . And there is no creature hidden from His sight." I recall thinking to myself back then in 1966, "This seems to be referring to Christ, not the Bible." I glossed over these thoughts, figuring I was probably mistaken. But now I don't think I was! For example, Donald A. Hagner refers to J. Swetham's article, "Jesus As Logos in Hebrews 4:12-13," Biblica 62, 1981, pp. 214-224 in his commentary (Hebrews: New International Biblical Commentary, Hendrickson, 1993, p. 77). I heartily commend Treason Against Christ to you! Dennis has uncovered an issue of vital importance. He is on to something that has far-reaching implications. He adds important insights to the conversation that will further unveil the glory of Christ in our generation. His expression in some details is unique from my own, though his essential points are spot-on.
